“The Stockton and Darlington Railway was a gift from us to the world, representing our innovation, inventiveness and interconnectivity.
“As Tees Valley Mayor, I applaud Steamd Symposium for tapping into the same imaginative spark that helped make the Rocket a reality and the world a smaller place.
“Its exciting plans for a dialogue across Digital and Creative businesses will help unite them, giving the sectors a stronger, louder voice.
“Digital Commerce is hugely important to the future of the area and we have seen the success of such hubs in Middlesbrough and Stockton, with Darlington a welcome addition to that list. Creative businesses, too, keep the spirit of forward-thinking entrepreneurial endeavour alive.
“With the ambitious Darlington 2025 upgrade plans for the station, the town is keenly placed to capitalise on ever-improving transport links to drive inward investment in these sectors. I am sure Steamd Symposium will play a key part in this.
“I look forward to working alongside the Steamd Symposium to do all I can to promote the region as a powerhouse for Creative and Digital industry on the global stage.”
